Netbook Reflections

Hi my name is Dora. I am 9 years old and I am a year 5 at Glenbrae School. I am a student from room 9 and my Teachers name is Mr Nath.

As you know, I have learnt about lots of different things like Cyber safety, accessing the class site, Blogging, Keyboard shortcuts, using google applications like google presentations create new folders and documents, using tools, taking screenshots and using Sumo paint.

I learnt to type faster on the Chromebook and I learnt lots of things on my chromebook. I learnt how to copy and paste, move things if they are not in the right place. I have learnt how to use the different docs on Google Drive and I have to admit, it is a million times better than using my books and pens. I am able to think about something and then find the information on google or different sites. I am able to be responsible while on the internet.

Nelson Mandela

This true story is about Nelson Mandela and his journey through life before he had passed away. He started many campaigns in the hopes of stopping the apartheid and gaining equality for his country. He was later put in prison on Robben Island and he was there for 27 years.

He was raised by the royal family and he was the first one in his family to attend school. Nelson Mandela was elected prime minister shortly after he was released from prison.

On Sunday 8th December 2013, Nelson Mandela who was born on the 18th July 1918 , sadly passed away. He lived a full a full life and died at the age of 95. He will forever be remembered for the many wonderful things he did for his people while he was alive and well.

Docking Day

The Docking Day  by Amanda Jackson

This story is about a Sheep farm family who go down to the paddocks to do docking. The children helped a bit but most of the time they rolled down hills and chased rabbits. While the family was busy docking, a chocolate truck tumbled down the hill and crashed on a tree. Then the family helped the truck driver collect all the boxes that had fallen out of the truck.

The characters in this story are Aunt Mollie,Mikey,Uncle Tama and the truck driver.

This story takes place in a paddock that was by the sea.

I liked this story because they had Christmas decorations  to hang up for docking day.

Less than One Second

This article is about Ashley and Shiree taking part in the slot car race that takes less than one second.Ashley and Shiree are the only children taking part in the annual slot car drag race.

The cars could reach speeds up to 193 Kilometers per hour.Times are recorded on the computer.

I like this article because it is a racing car story and I like racing cars. I wish I could drive a car myself and I wish it was the fastest car ever.

GRANNY'S PUNA

This story is about Granny’s Puna. The Puna was a fresh water spring that was near Granny’s house and and only the adults were allowed to go and get water from there.

The characters in this story are Granny, the narrator who was Granny’s moko.

This story takes at Granny’s house that is near a Puna in the forest.

I liked this story because the narrator got really scared after she saw a tuna in the Puna.   

Story Review

Title: Three Sam and Lucy Fables

This story is about Sam and Lucy and they know better than the people and when Sam and Lucy saw the man, he said hey! man and he slowly put the car down when Sam and Lucy were specking.

The characters in this story are Sam'Lucy and the people.

The story took place in the garden and the road.

I liked the story because the people don't think with their brains and the pigs do all the thinking for them.
